JOB DESCRIPTION

Position Highlights:

· Position: Staff Nurse, Delivery Room

• Location: Evanston Hospital.

· Full-Time or Part-Time: Part-time: 24 hours.

· Hours: 0700-1930, with rotations on weekends. Each six-week programme includes eight hours of on-call time.

· Required travel: Float to other sites as needed.

What You’ll Need:

·         Education: Graduate of an NLN certified school of nursing essential, with a BSN strongly desired.

· Certification: BLS/CPR certification for healthcare providers is required.

·        Experience: A minimum of 2 years of L&D experience is strongly encouraged.

What you’ll Do:

· Independently deliver safe, effective, and compassionate nursing care to a patient population on a specific unit.

· Apply nursing processes to design, implement, and evaluate patient care plans.

· Guide and direct unlicensed assistive persons to provide interdisciplinary patient care.

· Collaborate with healthcare team members to improve patient outcomes and maintain continuity of treatment.

·                 Providing a positive impact on patient safety and experience.

A brief overview:

The Staff Nurse will provide safe and compassionate nursing care to all patient populations by developing, implementing, and assessing the patient care plan. The Staff Nurse will work closely with nurses, physicians, and other clinical team members to achieve the best possible patient outcomes and continuity of care.

What you’ll Do:

• Creates a plan of care that specifies interventions to attain the desired results. Evaluates the patient’s progress towards the desired results, and revises the diagnosis, therapies, and expected outcomes as necessary.

• Assesses patients and collects health data from them, their families, and other health care providers.

• Communicates the plan of care to the patient and family on a frequent basis, honouring the patient’s desires by acknowledging their perceptions of health and disease and developing collaborative goals for the best possible outcomes. Communicates patient data to the physician and the interdisciplinary team as needed to meet patient care needs. Records patient health information, interventions, and communications.

• Individualises patient and family education based on a thorough assessment to match their unique learning needs. Assesses the patient’s cultural background, learning style, and learning difficulties, and adjusts the teaching plan accordingly. When applicable, teaches disease management techniques, emergency treatment, and pharmacological information. Identifies community resources to assist patients in self-management of sickness.

• Collaborates with peers, students, and other health care workers to strengthen their professional skills. Shares expertise, provides feedback, and helps to foster a supportive environment for clinical education. Assigns and allocate responsibilities as needed.

• Create a sympathetic environment by offering psychological assistance.

• Assist technical staff with contrast injections, venipunctures, medication administration, 02 treatment, and IV management.

• Participates in performance improvement initiatives and nursing research. Participates in professional networking, continuing education, and self-directed learning activities to stay current on research and practice trends in wound/ostomy/skin care. Helps staff use research and provide evidence-based care.

• If skilled, performs daily rounds on wound/ostomy/skin care patients. Monitors the success of wound/ostomy treatment regimens as well as other areas of wound/ostomy/skin care.

• Complies with HIPAA requirements.

• Assist with the transport of acutely ill patients as needed.
