JOB DESCRIPTION

 

A Maintenance Apprenticeship programme is being implemented at the Wilson plant to support Packaging Operations. The Maintenance Apprenticeship Programme provides on-the-job training as well as formal classroom/lab training (Wayne Community College). The apprentice will concentrate on acquiring a variety of maintenance tasks, including:

 

  • Mechanical power transmission includes gearboxes, couplings, belts, chains, sprockets and other components.

 

  • Electrical – Control and High Voltages

 

  • TIG/MIG/Stick Welding Fundamentals

 

  • CAD stands for computer-aided design.

 

  • Hydraulics and pneumatics are two types of fluid power.

 

  • Manual and CNC Machining

 

  • Robotics, PLCs, VFDs, Servos, and other electronic devices.

 

  • Mechanical, Electrical, Electronic, Welding, and Fluid Power Diagrams and Schematics

 

The apprentice is a full-time, paid employee who will complete a development programme with the assistance of our technicians and maintenance managers during the apprenticeship. The graduate will receive the following after successfully completing the apprenticeship programme:

 

  • Journeyman’s Certificate (from the Departments of Labour in the United States and North Carolina)

 

  • Industrial Systems Technology, Associate in Applied Science (AAS) degree

 

  • Transferable course credits for a bachelor’s degree, 2+2

 

  • The maintenance apprentice will begin as a 01-maintenance mechanic with the possibility of progressing to a 02-maintenance mechanic within four years if apprenticeship requirements and job performance satisfy expectations.

 

Among the responsibilities are:

 

  • All pharmaceutical production/process equipment is set up, changed over, and adjusted in accordance with current SOPs and Competency Based Training Modules. Executes experimental setups and trials of new setups as needed. After the initial test runs, save the data for future routine setups.

 

  • Determines proper settings and clearances, installs parts, and adjusts for given machine requirements during initial set-up and operations to accommodate various sizes and shapes of tablets, bottles, packages, fill volumes, and so on, as specified in set-up specifications or as needed to ensure adequate productivity.

 

  • Equipment is used to test synchronised timing, alignment, machine height, and other very simple fixed modifications.

 

  • Parts and equipment are disassembled and inspected to find the reason of incorrect operations. Repairs a machine with replacement parts and machine fabrications. Reassembles machinery using new or restored parts.

 

  • Cleans and lubricates machines on a regular basis, as well as performs other maintenance tasks to ensure the optimal running of all equipment.

 

  • Identifies the root cause of equipment malfunctions that occur while the equipment is in operation and, whenever possible, fixes and adapts the equipment to produce the least amount of production delay. Electrical and electronic repairs are examples of this.

 

  • Industrial control, measuring, and recording equipment is calibrated. Prepares precise GMP-compliant paperwork, recording measured data for file retention.

 

  • Performs preventative maintenance inspections and generates inspection reports on equipment functioning and mechanical condition.

 

  • Maintains positive engagement and teamwork with other maintenance mechanics, as well as Operators, Engineers, and other MMD plant site workers both local and distant.

 

  • All Current Good Manufacturing Practices (CGMP) and quality protocols are followed.

 

  • Maintains a clean working environment.

 

  • Fabricates machine and other parts utilising machine shop tools and raw materials.

 

  • Reads and interprets drawings, diagrams, and schematics, and performs maintenance troubleshooting and repairs.

 

  • Responsible for carrying out assignments in accordance with applicable regulatory (GMP’s) and department standard operating procedures that ensure the quality of our products.

 

  • Responsible for carrying out work in a safe manner by adhering to established safety procedures and employing appropriate safety equipment.

  • You must be at least 18 years old.

 

  • Requires a high school diploma or a general education degree (GED).

 

  • Willingness to learn new skills and learn about new products through classroom, hands-on, and virtual training.

 

  • Excellent written and oral communication abilities.
