Responsibilities

The registered nurse (RN) is responsible for nursing care coordination, which includes direct patient care, patient/family education, and care transitions. To address the needs of the patient and family, the RN promotes professional nursing practice throughout practice contexts and across the continuum of care. The RN will work within the Mayo Clinic Nursing Professional Practice Model, which includes accountability for all stages of nursing care for assigned patients, including planning, implementing, assessing, and communicating.

The ANA Nursing: Scope and Standards of Practice provide a foundation for RN practice. The RN leads through activities like as preceptorship, informal leadership roles, and quality improvement initiatives. The RN assigns patient care based on skill level, experience, patient acuity, economic accountability, and resource adequacy. The registered nurse has great communication skills, is skilled at mentoring and teaching, and may serve on committees or initiatives. As part of their responsibilities, certain employees may be obliged to drive their personal automobile.

This position qualifies for TN sponsorship. F1 visa holders who are eligible for post-completion OPT are encouraged to apply. This position is NOT qualified for the F-1 STEM OPT extension programme. State licensure and completion of the VisaScreen or similar certification are required for successful sponsorship.

Qualifications

Nursing student or recent graduate.

All entry-level associate degree registered nurses starting on or after April 1, 2020 must present documented evidence of programme completion of a bachelor degree in nursing programme within five years of the RN start date.

All entry-level associate degree registered nurses hired before April 1, 2020 must produce documented evidence of programme completion of a baccalaureate degree in nursing programme as specified by the degree requirement programme in existence at the time of recruitment.

It is preferable to have one year of RN experience in a relevant care setting or one year of LPN experience at Mayo Clinic.
Excellent verbal and written communication abilities. Working experience in a team atmosphere. Prior expertise with electronic medical record systems is preferred. Computer skills are essential.Flexibility and the ability to work during the day may be required to satisfy staffing needs. The ability to adjust to unexpected conditions in the workplace. Leadership, effective communication, and critical thinking skills are required.

Current RN licence in accordance with applicable state standards.

Basic Life Support (BLS) competency is maintained in Arizona and Florida.

Midwest – Maintains current Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers certification from either the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross. Non-campus positions may not require current Basic Life Support (BLS) skill, depending on the work sector.

Additional state licensure(s) and/or specialty certification/training may be necessary depending on the job.
